CERTIFIED BAILIFF/DEPUTY SHERIFF

SALARY: $36,400 ANNUALLY

DESCRIPTION AND BASIC DUTIES 

  • Maintain order and security in the courtroom and assist the judge with the orderly conduct of a trial
  • Work with a variety of court personnel, and lawyers
  • Enforce State Laws
  • Open court and inform the judge that the court is ready
  • Assist jurors
  • Transport prisoners to and from the courtroom
  • Meet physical aspects of the job
  • Perform other duties as the job requires
  • Computer proficiency
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • Be able to handle confidential information and materials
  • Work under minimum supervision
  • Willingness to learn
  • Exercise independent judgment and make decisions

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent General Education Development Certificate (GED)
  • Must be certified as a law enforcement officer in the state of Missouri
  • Or be eligible for licensing (waiver of MO academy requirement) as a peace officer in the state of Missouri by the Department of Public

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Employee is frequently required to sit, walk, talk and hear; must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Permitted to work in the United States
  • Ability to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Complete board interview, background investigation, and polygraph examination
